Our meeting on June 23, 2013, was at Grace Gospel Baptist Church in Ripley, WV. We left home on Saturday morning and drove most of the day, arriving around 5:00 pm. Sometimes we make good time, other times, we seem to make frequent “rest” stops.
The church provided a lovely prophet’s chamber/house to stay in and the children especially enjoyed exploring our “new house!”
The church family was warm, inviting, and receptive to our ministry. We count it a privilege to be able to share it with them. Everyone seemed to really enjoy hearing the children sing. Lunch was perfect—Little Caesar’s Pizza in the church fellowship building.
We took a quick nap and then visited another church in the area for the evening service.
Although I failed to get a good picture of it, one of the highlights of the weekend was our “family ice cream social” on Sunday evening. We stopped by the local grocery store and surprised the children with ice cream AND toppings! Our goal is to embrace deputation–and making special memories in the midst of the busy schedule is key with little ones.
Monday morning, we packed up and headed home, taking our time (not necessarily on purpose, lol) and turning the 5 and 1/2 hour trip into 10 hours. The children LOVED it when we stopped at a state forest and let them wade in the creek and “build a dam”.
We’ve unpacked now—just in time to pack up the trailer for a long trip. We will be gone between 3 and 6 WEEKS this trip. This is our first long trip in the travel trailer—I’m sure it will prove to be an experience! Hoping it’s nothing like The Longest 24 Hours EVER! :)
God is SO good. Getting to travel as a family, raising support for Little Fish Ministries, knowing that each trip, each meeting, is getting us one step closer to South Africa? We are blessed beyond words.
