Behind the Name

LITTLE FISH MINISTRIES

seeks to meet the physical, emotional, educational and SPIRITUAL needs of the orphan.

While praying about our ministry, Brent read Mark 6: 41 and reflected on the way Jesus had compassion on the multitudes, preached to the multitudes, healed the multitudes, AND fed the multitudes with the help of two SMALL fishes:

And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.

We serve an AWESOME God who delights in taking little things, breaking them into useful vessels for HIS purpose, and making great things out of them. Our prayer for Little Fish Ministries is not only that God would use our family to do great things for Him, but also that He would take these precious, broken, hurting, hopeless orphans and make something GREAT for His glory and praise!

Here are two fun ways to remember our ministry:

  1. Every time you eat Goldfish crackers (or feed them to your children!), pray for the orphans in South Africa. Teach your children to pray for the “little orphans” when they eat the “little fish”.
  2. Every time you see the Christian fish symbol on the back of a vehicle, pray for the Bergey family and Little Fish Ministries, that God would meet our needs and prepare us to meet the needs of orphans in South Africa.
